Almost Apple Pie

1 Refrigerated pie crust (for the bottom crust only)
3/4 cup Sugar
2 Tbsp Cornstarch
1 Tbsp Ground Cinnamon
4 cups Thinly sliced peeled apples.. (about 4 medium apples)
Egg White
1 tsp  Sugar

 

  1. Prepare crust according to directions.

  2. Place on foil lined baking sheet.  Make sure foil is smooth and free of creases.

  3. Mix 3/4 cup sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon in a medium bowl.  Add apples and toss in bowl to coat with mixture.

  4. Spoon apple mixture into center of crust within 2 inch of edge.

  5. Bring bottom crust up over apples and fold over to form a crust at the edge of about 2 inches pleating or folding crust as needed.  The center will be open.

  6. Brush edge of crust with egg white and sprinkle edge with 1 tsp sugar

  7. Bake in preheated 425 degree over for 20 minutes or until apples are tender and crust is golden brown.  Cool before slicing.
