Homemade Chai Tea

 

2 Individual tea bags

1 Cinnamon stick (3 inches)

6 Cardamom seeds (crushed)

2 cups Water

1 Whole clove

1/4 tsp Ground ginger

2 1/2 cups Milk

1/3 cup Sugar

Garnishments:  Sweetened whipped cream, ground cinnamon, 

additional cinnamon sticks (optional) 

 

In small saucepan combine water, tea bags, cinnamon stick, cardamon, 

clove and ginger.

Bring to a boil and reduce heat; cover and simmer for 5 minutes

Stir in milk and return to a boil for 1 minute

Strain and discard tea bags and spices

Stir in sugar until dissolved.

Ladle into mugs and garnish with your choice of toppings.. 

To make an attractive drink I like to add some whipped cream with 

cinnamon on top and a cinnamon stick on the side.
